Informed Beginnings

It all begins with Discovery. Grounded in brand positioning and strategy, guided by trend and category audits and shaped by data and insights, we shorten the design process by determining the right pathways to explore before any creative exploration begins.

Smarter Design

Having the right foundation means our initial creative options aren’t a shot in the dark. We strategically craft our design pathways around the “ways in” defined during the Discovery phase so that the first thing you look at isn’t 2 or 3 pretty pictures to react to, it’s 2 or 3 strategically positioned, legitimate brand options headed into round 1 testing when the real co-creation begins.

Consumer Co-creation

Those initial design options are strategically crafted to give consumers something to react to. Using our proprietary testing platform, we put several hundred of your typical shoppers into a realistic shopping environment and track everything they do as they interact with (or fail to) each of our design options. We then engage them in a dialogue with behaviorally-triggered questions and pull out everything necessary to create a winning design (which is often retested for validation and further dialogue).

When the finished design is ready to go, we not only engineer the final production-ready packaging, we can roll out every consumer touchpoint necessary to ensure a solid and successful launch. Since Buckwheat Milk had never been launched before, one of the biggest challenges was the lack of consumer insights, so we grounded our creative process with a series of quick PIVOT tests to bring the voice of the consumer into the early stage design process. Consumer Co-Creation was the secret sauce, ensuring a solid launch when BAM hit shelves.

As a final verification that we were on the right track, we pressure tested our “Plant & Soil” design aesthetic against a more traditional appetite appeal image approach using PIVOT—and it was a big win for the non-traditional approach.
